Serial Interface Board (SIB)

The RAMPack B (RPB) is an easy to use serial SRAM module that can hold up to 32,768 bytes of data. Data is loaded into and read out of the RAMPack B through a serial interface. Serial data should be TTL level, in an 8N1 format, with 5 baud rates supported (1.2K, 2.4K, 4.8K, 9.6K, and 19.2K).

There is an additional first-in / first-out (FIFO) buffer mode that can be used to automatically store serial data. AN055 shows one example of a circuit that multiplexes a master unit and another serial data device to the RAMPacks serial input line. This technique allows the RAMPack B to store data received in memory, and allows the master to retrieve that data at will.

The RAMPack B is shipped with 32K bytes of SRAM which is socketed. The SRAM may be replaced by NVRAM by the customer.
